All BSM students are welcome to attend Musicianship Classes. Check your email for the zoom link!
Musicianship Classes Fall 2020
BSM Musicianship Classes throughout the 2020-2021 Academic Year will feature Classical Era Music & Composers. Each class will feature a different notable composer as well as highlight a particular musical form and instrument.
During Fall 2020, all Musicianship classes will be held online via Zoom. There will be NO registration required, and the link will be made available the week leading up to the class. All homework packets will be available in the student portal.
September 12, 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Join us to learn about Austrian composer Franz Joseph Haydn, commonly credited with being the "father of the string quartet" and who contributed to the modern symphony as we know it. During this class we will learn about Haydn's life & career, listen to some of his major works, explore the genre of the String Quartet, and discuss the clavichord.
October 10, 9:30 - 10:30 AM. Our second class will feature the life and career of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, famous in his day as a prodigious musical virtuoso and composer of some of our most beloved melodies to this day! This class will also cover the classical concerto and the clarinet.
Fall 2020 Virtual studio class
All BSM students are invited to join us from 9:30 - 10:30 AM on select Saturdays for a virtual studio performance class. During each class, we will offer opportunities for students to play a piece (or pieces) they are working with for each other. This is a fantastic way to gain performance experience, test out your pieces prior to a performance, and get creative and constructive comments from peers! Memorization is not required. We would encourage students to plan to attend and perform as much as they are able to.
There is NO registration for this class - all are welcome to attend. Students who wish to perform should discuss with their teachers in their lesson that week.
Please check your email in the week leading up to the class for the specific Zoom link.
