Ryan and Lydia BlakemoreRyan and Lydia Blakemore are classically trained pianists who live and teach in the greater Orlando area. They met while pursuing Master's Degrees at Florida State University, fell in love, got married, and started The Blakemore School of Music in 2015.
Their dream is to build a flourishing music program where they can share their love of music with their students and inspire them to develop their own artistry and creativity. Although they teach differently, both Ryan and Lydia always seek to bring out the best in their students and always encourage them to strive for excellence. Aside from teaching and taking care of their daughters Emma, Maddie, & Sophie, Ryan and Lydia both perform as soloists, collaborative pianists, and as The Blakemore Piano Duo. |
Lydia blakemoreLydia Aluri Blakemore is a classical pianist living in the Orlando area where she maintains a private piano studio and is an active performer. Lydia has been teaching privately for about 16 years and has experience working with students of all ages and levels. She has had the privilege of studying with many distinguished teachers and her performance career has taken her to various venues in the United States and Italy.
Lydia is a graduate of Florida State University, where she received a Masters of Music in Piano Performance under Dr. Read Gainsford. Previous to her study at Florida State University, she obtained a Bachelors of Music in Piano Performance from Furman University in Greenville, South Carolina where she studied with Dr. Derek Parsons. While at Furman University, Lydia was selected to participate in a semester-long study abroad program in Arezzo, Italy where she worked with Italian pianist Alessandro Tricomi and performed in venues around Tuscany. Lydia has participated and performed in several masterclasses and music festivals, including the Brevard Summer Music Festival (2009 & 2010). Lydia performs with her husband as part of the Blakemore Piano Duo and is an active member of the Music Teachers National Association serving on both the state and local boards. She is also proud to be a Founding Teacher in Carnegie Hall's "The Achievement Program", now known as "The Music Development Program" and her students have been awarded the State Certificate of Excellence for highest marks in Florida as well as the National Gold Cup for highest marks in the United States. Her students have been the recipients of awards at numerous local and regional competitions and have been accepted into music schools and degree programs. Ryan BlakemoreRyan Blakemore is an active performer, accompanist, and teacher both at the collegiate and pre-college levels. He graduated from Florida State University earning his Master’s degree in Piano Pedagogy under Dr. Vicki McArthur and studying piano with Dr. Joshua Pifer and Dr. David Kalhous. Prior to his studies at FSU, Ryan completed a Bachelor of Science in Music at Clearwater Christian College where he studied piano with Dr. Craig Ralston and also extensively accompanied singers, instrumentalists, and musical theater productions.
Following his graduation from FSU, Ryan enrolled at the University of South Carolina, studying pedagogy with Dr. Scott Price and piano with Dr. Charles Fugo. While at USC, he taught class piano as a graduate teaching assistant, presented a poster session at the 2012 SC State Music Teachers’ Convention, accompanied the University Chorus under the direction of Dr. Alicia Walker, and also accompanied undergraduate vocal auditions. In addition to teaching, Ryan also composes music inspired and commissioned by BSM students and creates content for the BSM YouTube channel. His compositions may be viewed on YouTube. In 2020 Ryan began another YouTube channel dedicated to helping singers learn the fundamentals of music and how to practice and sing their art songs. Inspired by his time teaching class piano to undergraduate students, Ryan created an online course teaching all the skills necessary to prepare for or test out of undergraduate class piano 1. The course contains over 8 hours of video lessons and printable materials. Aside from maintaining his private studio at The Blakemore School of Music, Ryan currently performs as a collaborative pianist at the University of Central Florida, accompanying lessons and recitals. Ryan has also taught on faculty at Valencia College, Reformation Bible, Orlando Music Institute and Clearwater Christian College.
